The wedding boom is here and people are ready to celebrate their weddings in 2022 like never before. While there are still certain restrictions, weddings are looking more like what they used to with big design moments, huger guests lists, and destination events.
This year, we are also seeing that couples are generally making everything more intentional, focus on the guest experience, developing more personalized details, and spend more money per guest to make them feel literally included in the experience.
Breaking Tradition
“With the forced changes to events these past some years (e.g. micro weddings followed by huge parties), I have seen more couples decided to do stuff in a more non traditional manner, and I welcomed the change,” shares someone from Ang Weddings and Events. From reception-only celebrations to elopements to bolder design, weddings are much more individualizing to the couple.
Big Parties
While many have opted for micro-weddings the past some years, big huge parties are back! Planner Mitchell declares, We spent a while not being able to celebrate, and now that we can, we are going better and bigger than ever! Rafanelli Events’ Bryan Rafanelli agreed on this. We are forced to hold back on almost everything [in] our lifejourney, he says. I check out abundance all around us. More of everything to make every wedding shining and once in a lifetime experience.
Intimate Weddings
While few might be doing blowout events, others have come to embracing the intimacy of a micro-wedding. I actually love this tiny, more intimate wedding, sharing planner Annie Lee of Daughter of Design. Selfishly for decorating purpose, we can do so much more keen interesting designs when we set up 50 places rather than 250!
Destination Weddings
With travel restrictions loosen and vaccines accessible, the destination wedding is back on the table for major couples. We’re presently developing numerous international weddings after two years of staying domestic. I’m excited to see couples ready celebrating abroad again, sharing planner Helmstetter.
We’re loving all of the weekend activities that clients set up for their guests to enjoy, says Ashley Mason of Saunter Weddings. It could be a suggested food tour or sea adventures in your destination location. Just making for the even better weekend!
Full Wedding Weekends
Speaking of, there definitely has coming a rise in the wedding weekend. With welcoming parties, daytime activites, and day-after brunches, many weddings expand their scope outside of the simple reception and ceremony. I love that couples felt the impulse to extend this level of hospitality to friends and family, particularly when travel is included. Weddings that are multi-day experiences resulted in an authentic and unparalleled spirit of community, as guests have more opportunities to meet one another, spending time together, and to make good memories, explain planner Jackson of Pineapple Productions.
Colorful Décor
While there are definitely still white weddings, you may see a lot more hues in 2022. Color in design seems like the outward manifestation of the joy we are all felt as we begin seeing the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, notes someone of LOLA Event Productions.
Jaime Kostechko of Wild Heart Events adds, We have always been a fan of color, but we are seeing some newest combos that have our wheels turning!
Unique Tabletop Design
All eyes will be on tablescapes at receptions this year. The one trend I’m pretty much excited about and would love to see more of in 2023 is the curated goal of tabletop and lesser about the ceiling, says wedding planner Weiss. The details, flowers, and dishes that sit in front of the guests throughout the event are certain to be appreciated!
Unexpected pattern and Vivid color— floral, small prints, chinoiserie, country toiles, and more—are coming to the table figuratively and literally, notes designer and planner David Stark.
Formal Affairs
Black tie is back! After losing a whole year of parties, humans are more excited than ever to get dressed up for the formal events, sharing Alison of Alison Events. Quite frankly, it looks much better in photos anyways. Yassin and Mollie Jones of Bash Please add, This is not your average tuxedo and ball gown. 2023 is in for some very joy formal looks!
Unique Guest Experiences
Along with the anticipation and build up of getting to see and celebrating with loved ones, we’re exploring that our clients are REALLY focus on guest experience, sharing the team at GATHER Events.
